Balcone tour - Sauze d'Oulx
We start from Sauze and immediately begin the climb, first on asphalt and then on dirt road along the famous Assietta road, always with moderate gradients. After about 8 km we reach the arrival of the first funicular, Sportinia, but we pull straight: another 4 km of dirt road takes us to the second funicular. The most challenging stretch is behind us: now we enjoy the view of the valley and prepare for the descent. We go down the dirt road and after a few meters we take a path to the right that crosses the meadows and crosses the main road a couple of times, always staying on its right side.
A beautiful single track immersed in the woods leads us to Sestriere. The path is smooth and entirely cyclable. From here, between slight ups and downs, we reach Soleil Boeuf, where we stop for a restorative lunch at the refuge. The bulk of the route is done, but don't sing victory: there are still a few more exertions ahead of us before the return.Between descents on dirt roads and continuous ups and downs in the woods, with our legs starting to feel the miles, we arrive in Jouvenceaux. Unfortunately, it's not over yet: the last punishment is a 150-meter asphalt climb back to Sauze." If you are not staying overnight in Sauze d'Oulx, we recommend parking directly in Jouvenceaux to tackle this climb at the beginning of the tour, when your energy is fresh.
