Fondo - Palit - Fondo - Valchiusella

The route starts at the entrance to Fondo in Valchiusella at an elevation of 1,074 meters, following 2 km of paved road through the hamlets of Durando and Vaudanza, which serves as the starting point for ski mountaineering in the winter. The dirt road that follows is wide, with a mix of grassy and rocky terrain, and remains rideable throughout, though it is very steep in places with a few concrete hairpin turns. After 4 km, you reach the Palit ski lifts at an elevation of 1,700 meters, which began operating in 1963 and closed permanently in 2006. Nothing of particular note: cows fenced in at the Bec area with no herders; on the descent, I passed a tired e-biker who was heading uphill. Returned via the same route used for the ascent.
