Lago Pietra Quadra

Beautiful scenic tour leading from the roccoli trail above Roncobello to the three laces and lake of pietra quadra. Departing from Roncobello, you ride up the asphalt road through the woods toward the Mezzeno huts. You push the bike following the track to the roccoli path, behind you you can see the beautiful Arera. Here a stupendous landscape opens up, skirting two well-maintained huts you resume pushing up to Tre Pizzi, if you wish you can detour to the Trepizzi bivouac from which you can see the whole valley below Isola di Fondra. On the way back you pass near the framed Pietra Quadra lake that is inside the valley of the mountain that gives it its name.

The descent is tough all the way down to the Roccoli. And it has two alternatives.

• The one of the trail I do not recommend and goes directly down to Roncobello, with about 200 meters of negative elevation gain to carry.

If you want to start from Isola di Fondra you can lengthen the descent.
