VALCAMONICA: ALTISSIMO AND SOLSTICE TRAIL
A spectacular tour on Mount Altissimo in Valcamonica with an intense and spectacular descent. Nothing will be trivial but everything will be magical. Arriving at the top of Mt. Altissimo enjoy the spectacle and then launch into an off limits descent. Thanks to the legendary Ricky Moscardi for accompanying me on this adventure. To him the merits of the tour.
We start from Cogno (BS) (280 m ) near the free parking lot in the train station area. We drive into the center of town and take Via 25 Aprile from where the climb officially begins. It will be steady and challenging, but also long so be prepared. We follow the Annunciata signs and up to the locality Rocca (700 m ) let's say between ups and downs it will pass fairly well. Now comes the best part because we will get out of "civilization" and go through silent places typical of this wonderful Valcamonica. Dassine (914 m ), Balestrini ( 1,171 m ) up to Malga Mine ( 1,315 m ) where I highly recommend a stop to admire the mountain pastures and catch your breath. From this point the last 400 m of more challenging elevation gain begins. The pedaling will get much tougher and we will have to finish on the slopes of the ski lifts ( probably some pushing will fit ) for a last climb that will allow us to reach the summit of Monte Altissimo at 1,703 m. Well now the games are up, at least for the ascent. Take your time and get ready for the sound of Rock n' Roll at times even Hard. We set off for PS1 Pian D'Aprile and then suddenly veer under Mount Erbanno to the right. Here we pay close attention. The first vertical section and then flow on the meadows with autumn foliage and then begins the central section that will last about 10/15 minutes in pure trail style where we evaluate well all the passages and where we decide whether to beacon or descend for a few meters depending on our preparation. Past this section and a metal lanyard, the final libido begins. Smossa, then crunchy flow and then flowing with switchbacks until we reach the Little Church of St. Valentine ( 660 m ). Now a last stretch on cobblestones and stones fairly easy awaits us until the village of Erbanno ( 280 m ). When we reach the main road we follow the bicycle path that runs along the Oglio River and in fluency we return to the starting point.
RECOMMENDED ROUTE FOR MOUNTAIN BIKE and/or E-BIKE ALL MOUNTAIN.
