Marina di Campo Loop
Nice hike around Marina di Campo to Lacona, Biodola, Procchio, and St.Ilario, with three nice descents in the area. You leave the parking lot just outside Marina di Campo and via small roads, bike paths, and trails you reach the beginning of the Literno climb, first on asphalt and then long dirt road but with moderate gradient. You keep left at the intersection with the GTE and proceed to the S.Martino crossroads. Here you take the path to the right that climbs into the woods; a technical track but all pedalable with good ebike assistance. You drop off at Monte Barbatoia, a short technical but easy descent, a small relaunch and then right for the nice Barbatoia trail down to Laconella. Initially flow trail, then the steepness increases, steps and some trialistic little passages on rock. In the final stretch a couple of uphill relaunches and then you arrive on a dirt road that leads to Laconella.
Here turn left onto the provincial road, then left again to climb to the little church of S.Maria. Short descent, then climb up a nice track among the olive groves below Colle delle Vacche that takes us to cross the ridge GTE (climb hard in places, but all rideable). Left on the GTE for the quiet forest road to the crossroads of S.Martino.Here keep right until a crossroads of trails; we take 145 that after a short drop to Monte Pericoli descends to Biodola/Procchio.Flow descent initially then gradually more technical but never extreme; a few steps on rock, and ruts, but always smooth.
You arrive on the private road (be careful when crossing as it is near a blind curve). Here you can proceed straight ahead on a dirt road (short ascent and then descent) that descends toward Procchio, or to the right take a path down to the sea just before Biodola. The path is technical with hairpin bends and technical passages that are also challenging; you arrive on the coast path near a first beautiful cove. You cross the beach and then climb briefly to follow the coast path. Another beautiful cove, but this time the ascent is longer and more challenging (90% rideability) and you return to the dirt path mentioned above. Right and shortly after right to the path down to Procchio.Nice technical but flowing path and then back to the path along the coast (alternatively at the second cove you could stay low, but you would lose this descent that instead deserved). You arrive in the Procchio seafront and then on the provincial road.
Here turn right on asphalt to Marciana Marina and at a fork take a left to Redinoce. Climb up on asphalt and then join the forest road that leads to Colle Reciso. After a few ups and downs on the forest road, you begin a technical climb on rock (well pedaled) that shortly takes you to Colle Reciso and from here turn right on the forest road to St.Ilario.We then take the nice and hard forest road that climbs to Monte Perone, a couple of hard climbs, but all rideable. At Monte Perone we descend to the pistini area, short climb and then pistino TozziCarletto to descend to Poggio and from here for a nice technical single track (firm rock and rocky) with passages towards the end bordering on trialistic, we arrive at Marina di Campo and the parking lot
