Monte Rai
Short but highly satisfying route with great views, especially on windy days. It starts at Lake Segrino. The long climb is initially with very little traffic, and then about halfway up the road is closed to vehicles (except authorized ones) so there will be virtually no cars. The gradient of the climb is quite considerable in places.
Having arrived at Rifugio Marisa Consigliere, we continue along the road, which at this point turns from paved to unpaved. Having reached just below the San Miro pass, with a bike on your back or by pushing, within a few minutes you can easily reach the top of Mount Rai, from which you can enjoy a 360-degree panorama that is nothing short of breathtaking.
For the descent, you proceed along the west ridge of Mt. Rai. This first section is quite technical but remarkably satisfying, just below you rejoin the dirt road and arrive back at the refuge, here you take the traverse that starts just behind the refuge and the long, very technical section begins. There are also a couple of traverses where you have to push the bike because they are uphill and difficult to do on the pedals. You arrive at the Madonna della Neve sanctuary, pass in front of a portion of the Pusiano quarry and in a short time you will be back at the starting point.
