Monte Colombina
The route we are proposing today is one of the most scenic to face on Lake Iseo; for the entire ascent and for a good part of the descent you can admire the lake below you. We are in Lovere, in the province of Bergamo and we are going to climb Mount Colombina!
Leaving the car in Lovere, we head toward Costa Volpino where the ascent begins on an asphalt road with regular gradients. After about 600 meters of elevation gain, when we arrive in Ceratello, we leave the asphalt to take a dirt road with very challenging strains, until we arrive above the labitato di Bossico. The time has come to aim for our finishing cross: Mount Colombina! Now the real effort of the day begins. First with dirt roads in the undergrowth, then with trails where several times we will have to get off the bike, and finally the worst, about 35 minutes of biking up the mountain to reach the cross of Mt. Colombina. This last stretch is optional, but strongly recommended for the crazy views you will find upon reaching the cross.
We descend the mountain via the meadows or the trail made to climb, and head in the opposite direction from where we came. After a stretch of road we take the first trail of the day: a continuous flow/freeride through the undergrowth that takes us first to Bossico and then to Passo delle Croci. After a short stretch of road we take the last trail of the day: the Castelliere Trail; a fun single track that between rocky, boulder-strewn sections and more flowing stretches leads us to the town of Lovere, where, via the lakeside road, we will reach our starting point.
