San Piero a Sieve - Passo dell'Osteria Bruciata
Very nice loop but not to be done in rainy periods as especially on the lower part you cross many field roads.
Departing from San Piero a Sieve, you immediately get to visit in its external part the beautiful Medici Fortress, and then cross the whole Mugello plain passing by the Bosco ai Frati and the beautiful Church/convent that can be visited together with its Museum. You arrive at Spazzavento and from here on it will be all uphill, especially from Castellana, until you reach the Osteria Bruciata Pass and the summit of Monte Faggio all'Ombrellino.
From this point on, except for a few small climbs, it will be all downhill. Be careful to follow the trail well because after a short while you start to descend into the beech forest there is a fairly obvious trail that makes us lose sight of the right path instead. Throughout the upper part the beech forest is very beautiful and the descent in some places is absolute fun.
We get as far as S.Agata, to visit the church and the bridge over the Cornocchio Stream. We take the Strada di Gabbiano and then a detour has us taking a nice field road back to San Piero.
Rating on Difficult due to challenging climbs and some single track sections not really for beginners .
