Monte Bregagno
For this route, I drew inspiration from this article in Diretür. Once you reach the pass, instead of starting the descent right away, follow the signs pointing toward the summit. From this point to the summit, you’ll only be pedaling for short stretches; you’ll push your bike up to the top of Bregagnino, then follow a slightly downhill section with a few ups and downs, and finally the last slope leading to the summit—which you’ll also have to push your bike up.
In my opinion, the effort is more than worth it for the stunning view from the summit—over the lake below, which resembles a Norwegian fjord, and across the entire Alps.
So I recommend choosing a day with perfect weather. The descent follows the ascent route to S. Amate, and then you follow the trail described in the itinerary at the link above.
Please note that, as Marco has already mentioned, the lower part of the route is not easy to find; the trails are not marked, and in some places they are quite difficult to spot.
