Valle di Esino

It is always a pleasure to ride on the lake, both for the sense of peace it conveys and for its beautiful climate.

Excellent route for MTB XC/AM, 95% rideable.

The starting place is Varenna and the route with its 35km length and 1500m elevation gain stretches above the lake in the wooded Esino valley.

The initial part of the route climbs on asphalt through unfamiliar and dispersed villages, once the ascent is over you can enjoy a beautiful view of Lake Como; the route from now on alternates between dirt and single track always remaining at altitude (1200m).

Finally it's time to throw ourselves into the descent; the first section, completely pedalable, is very smooth and fast, until the Sentiero del Viandante where things change, in fact the path throws itself steeply down into the valley, alternating easy and fast stretches with rocky and technical pieces where in some cases it is necessary to accompany the bike at your side; you cannot miss the countless glimpses overlooking the lake to enjoy the magnificent view.
