Passo delle Selle, rifugio Vallaccia, val di San Nicolò
Very challenging counterclockwise tour starting from Pozza di Fassa, difficult descent from rifugio delle Selle. From Pozza bike path to Soraga then small asphalt road to the San Pellegrino pass road. Now long dirt road to the pass where the gradients increase to the refuge. There is a sign forbidding to descend, descend only those who are able, the descent is difficult but just do a few sections on foot never long.
The trail is rocky in places but very nice and smooth, from the Taramelli refuge it widens. I didn't meet any pedestrians going up, it is a seldom-used trail, the refuge owner told me they put the sign up to keep beginners from going down. I went up to the Vallaccia refuge on a very steep dirt road. At the Monzoni hut I followed a little path, first Cai, then a short steep dirt climb, then a narrow path in the woods marked by blue signs with some very short walking sections. At the barn it becomes a dirt road that descends to the valley, then up a dirt road to Baita delle Cascate then downhill to the village.
At the Monzoni hut those who are tired descend to the valley.
