Shanghai Express

Challenging trail of the Pratese Apennine ridge, about 40km of pure uninterrupted single track! The complete trail is about 73km including 18 by train, the elevation gain is about 1850 meters.

Leaving the car at the free parking lot of prato borgonuovo to walk through the chinatown of Prato until you reach the Central Station, of course after admiring the beautiful old town. From here we take the train to Vernio, crowded with Chinese commuters moving to nearby Bologna, hence the name SHANGHAI EXPRESS, once we get off we immediately begin the climb that will take us over the ridge to the alpe di Cavarzano.

It is important to have a good bite of Tordelli at the Pacini refuge, which is located more or less halfway up the trail. The ridge trail is characterized by continuous ups and downs that are a lot of fun, once you get to the top it is about 40 km always on single track and little forest road. Avoid this trail in seasons that are too hot. You will be amazed by the beauty of this inanaspected corner of Tuscany!
