Da Livigno al Bernina e ritorno
From Livigno follow the bicycle path to the Forcola pass. Bike path that then becomes a dirt road, never steep except just below the pass. As of mid-July 2022 this last part has been cleared of gullies due to rain.
From Forcola we take the beautiful path that will take us up to the Bernina Pass. Built specifically for bikes, it has several ups and downs and a few climbs with some bikeable switchbacks. You get above Val Minor (possible descent, but technical, with which you shorten the tour) and continue to the Bernina Pass.
From here it goes to Lago Bianco and follow the path down to Pontresina.
At the Diavolezza cable car cross the cantonal road and take the Fain Valley dirt road. Every so often turn back to see the fantastic view of the Bernina glaciers.
You will come to an alpine hut (refreshments and fountain) and from here take a falsopiano path until you get above the Livigno valley. The path downhill literally sucks, due to erosion and steps made from railroad ties. Fortunately, toward the middle of the descent it becomes bikeable again and takes us to the road up to the Forcola Pass. We follow it downhill and then abandon it in favor of the bike path we rode previously.
