Lecco - Porto d'Adda (anello sull'Adda)
A classic winter route, perfect for staying in shape even during the coldest months. During these months, it’s actually easier to ride because the vegetation is less dense. Some sections are well-known and very popular (the Adda bike path), while others have been included to make the route more varied and technically challenging and to create a sort of loop. The route follows a clockwise direction so that you tackle the busiest stretch along the state highway while you’re still fresh and alert, but there’s no particular reason why you couldn’t ride it in the opposite direction.
The total distance is about 60 km, but there are several points where you can cross the river to shorten the route; specifically, you can cross the river at Brivio (Note: as of September 2026, the bridge is closed for maintenance), thereby avoiding the most tedious and traffic-heavy section. The route is rated 2 stars; obviously, the sections on the bike path are straightforward and pose no difficulty, while the sections through the woods feature several slightly challenging passages, which account for the overall rating. The difficulties stem mainly from the narrow paths, though they generally have compact, smooth surfaces.
The section from Stallazzo to the little church of S. Maria Addolorata is the most challenging, featuring a narrow, exposed single track and a few steep climbs on uneven terrain—nothing impossible, but easily avoidable by staying on the bike path.
