A long and challenging route starting from Merano; alternatively, you can start from San Pancrazio. It presents no technical difficulties but offers stunning views of the beautiful Val d’Ultimo.
From Merano, you reach San Pancrazio via a rather challenging and steep off-road detour, then climb toward the Falkomai alpine hut (refreshments available) on secondary roads and forest trails, enjoying beautiful views.
Before reaching the Falkomai Alpine Hut (if you wish, you can go as far as the hut to enjoy the beautiful view and then turn back), you descend to the charming little church of St. Helena.
Follow a forest road with a short, steep climb, then descend along a dirt track with brief technical sections down to San Pancrazio and return to Merano.
