Dalla Val Bedretto alla Val Formazza con salita su trail
Spectacular itinerary with 1000-meter climb totally on trail and partly steep and technical, which is why I suggest using an ebike. For the variant with a classic bike, it is better to go up to the Nufenen Pass on the paved road(tour here).
We start from All'Acqua in the Bedretto Valley and climb up to the San Giacomo Pass on the Italian border on the new bike trail. It continues on an exposed section and then on a technical climb to the Corno Gries Hut and from there still on a technical trail to the Gries Pass.
From here begins an easy and beautiful section up to the Gries Lake and on to the switchback to the Formazza Valley. The descent to the Bettelmatt plain was unfortunately partly ruined by summer storms, with sections to be pushed.
From Bettelmatt you change orographic side of the stream and take a technical trail just enough to get to the second lake, from where it is then not long to the Walser village of Riale. There are two restaurants for those who are hungry.
Also because then begins the climb up to the San Giacomo Pass, all on dirt road. You pass the Maria Luisa Refuge just below the Toggio Dam (refreshment) and then skirt the lake practically all the way to the pass.
From there the bike trail begins again, magnificent, all the way to All'Acqua. Immoderate speeds and perfect bottom to end on a high note!
