Prati di Assen e Hirzer
Those who look up from Merano to the east, toward the peaks of Monte Ivigna and Monte Cervina, immediately notice a green triangle in the middle of the latter. These are the Meadows of Assen, a large haymaking pasture located at over 2,000 meters.
It is surely one of the most beautiful and striking places that the mountains of Merano can offer, with an incredible view of Merano , the Vinschgau valley and the Texel group, with its many peaks over 3000 meters.
Getting there from Merano is rather long and challenging, but the view repays all the exertions, and there is also an alpine hut with excellent cuisine where you can refresh yourself. After the meadows, a path leads to the Hirzer huts.
Then with a rather challenging push section (possibly avoidable), you reach the highest point with fantastic views towards Merano.
At the end endless technical trail to Merano. Itinerary for experts and well trained.
