Canicciaie
Classic Canicciaie trail with Lisca first and then high and low Canicciaie. Starting location: just before reaching Fognano at the end of Via Bicchieraia in Montemurlo. Leave the parking lot heading south and after a few meters turn left onto a steep cartroad that enters the road toward Lavello. The dirt road climbs gradually (open to cars) but with a few small tears. When you reach the Lavello farm, keep to the dirt road on the right. The long dirt road climb is fairly gradual but with a few steeper sections. At the Cavallaie take a right avoiding the push section, take an even more right-hand single track that climbs quite gradually to the top of the Cavallaie. When you get to a Madonnina take the path to the left and here begins the beautiful Lisca track with jumps, wall rides, steep sections, compressions and climbs, a real blast ! Only caution, don't follow the Cai trail which is less fun. Final section resembles a "dolomite" pistino!
Short ascent with a tear and you get to a wide plateau (with source) and then climb up a forest road with gravel and earth bottom, steep in places but always rideable. When you reach the top you take follow the nice single track made uphill and arrive at the Cavallaie crossroads. Follow the dirt road to the left and the climb resumes with a few ups and downs (this section is also at risk of mud in rainy periods). At a widening (Acandoli pass) with a crossroads, proceed straight north and toward Monte Alto. Begin a long and beautiful single track at altitude (HoChiMin) that skirts the mountainside (with steep forest to the left). You still come out on asphalt (left) for a few meters, pass the Spedaletto and then turn left at the crossroads. At a second crossroads proceed straight for the forest road that climbs (a few small tears) and towards the end keep left (less obvious forest road).
At the end of the latter, the high section of the Canicciaie begins: a little pistino with hairpin bends and jumps (with some leaves) but well rideable and you reach the asphalt, to the right and after a while to the left is the entrance to the Canicciaie trail. It is a path, definitely challenging, very well made with natural and artificial jumps and trampolines, parabolics, steep slopes and climbs, gymkhana among the trees, a real fun fair for bikers. In the final part after a nice series of switchbacks begins a series of steep and challenging technical passages bordering on trialistic and you arrive Fognano and from there by asphalt to the parking lot all downhill.
