Cortina, Tofane, Falzarego e 5 Torri

Another beautiful all-mountain tour around the basin of Cortina d?Ampezzo retracing part of the Super Panorama Freeride Mtb, the route is mostly on single track, dolomitic and wooded and with the use of some lifts. Not always smooth and in the second part was wet due to recent rain, but very fun and surrounded by breathtaking views.

We left the van at the parking Via del Parco in Cortina, reached the gondola col drusciè, climbed with two lifts to take us to an altitude of 2100m up to the Duca d?Aosta refuge, from there we started the tour with a fun descent on the easy trail Tofanina until we deviated on the junction with the small road that goes up to the Angelo Dibona refuge, reached the refuge our track should have continued on the?alta via delle dolomiti cai 404 that skirts the side of the Tofana di Rozes on 2300m, but at the refuge we had to turn around because we had been told that trail 404 was recently closed due to landslide, the only alternative was to descend and take the paved state road, but since we had the daily bike pass we opted to descend a bit more until the new skyline cable car (since 2023 it is also open in summer and to bike transport). So impromptu descent, which turned out to be fun by the way, passing immediately through the forestry cuts and then taking the Tofanina trail again, diverting near the lift valley station.

Arriving with the skyline lift in the Bai de Dones area we descended a few hundred meters into the woods until we crossed state road 48 to ascend from the forestry in front that would take us back to an altitude of 2100m to intercept the original trail that descended from the Col dei Bos pass, then continuing to climb to 2180m to the ruins of the old military hospital from World War I. From here we resumed skirting the mountain on cai 423 up and down with a few micro passages to push through due to obstacles and mini landslides to then descend to Passo Falzarego at 2110m,.

After crossing the pass, descent on a somewhat swampy path to Bai de Dones to take the last lift that takes us to the Scoiattoli refuge a few meters from the beautiful Cinque Torri.

After the usual photos we set off on a fun 10 km descent to Cortina, the first part on dirt road then the little road becomes more steep and ruined until it becomes an alternation of easy and challenging S2 sections with some short difficult passages.

Tour that is 1300 m of positive elevation gain pedaled + lifts for a total of 40km.
