Mottarone da Gignese

As per the title departure from Gignese with ample parking, crossed the village go up to Madonna della Neve via a short path plus asphalt (a section with works in progress could be closed) then between villas up to the intermediate station of the cable car, from here forest dirt road until you take path L9 that, with a few short ramps leads to the old train station. Take the former train line, all gravel with long stretches at 20%, leading to the high yard of the cable car. Short asphalt to take the track to reach the summit. Again today superb views of Alps, lakes, plains and Apennines. Start descent along the baby slope, then towards the former Omegna slope, with singletrack section along the remains of the ski lift, at the base of which the splendid Rough trail begins, ending in the locality of Tre Alberi. From here we choose the traverse that with ups and downs also abrupt leads us to the trail The cat and the fox, fun and very well maintained, at the end climb up 100 m on asphalt to take the classic DH Pescone, also here fun with sections with a rocky bottom. Back up on asphalt to Armeno and Coiromonte, where you take a long traverse, first forestry, then nice trail with a couple of exposed spots, up to dirt road where back up 100/150m you find a MTB arrow for a short, nice but dirty singletrack to descend to the last 2km to get back to Gignese.
