Monte Morissolo da Cambiasca

Start from Trobaso on paved road with little traffic with ramps after Aurano and dirt road from Piancavallo. Highly recommended digression on foot to the very panoramic Morissolo peak passing through tunnels and military fortifications. The military post was built between 1916 and 1918 at the behest of General Cadorna of Pallanza, chief of staff of the Italian army. The purpose was to garrison the entire lake area as far as Locarno, and for the first time women were offered wage labor to transport water, cement and provisions.

The descent is beautiful and fun and never too difficult; it alternates between sections of dirt road and beautiful single track in the woods, practically 100% cyclable. The upper part has abundant foliage to be tackled carefully, the section to Manegra is on firm ground, near Pollino there is another short section a bit dug out.
