Crinale appenninico Spicchio Cima dell'Omo

Spectacular traverse of the ridge from Mount Spicchio to the summit of the Omo. Departure just below the village of Renaio that we reach immediately in very steep sailita on asphalt road. Once in the village we follow the signs for Vetricia always on an asphalt road that soon turns into a comfortable dirt road coinciding with Cai 20.

Reaching the Rifugio, below the road, we continue following the forest road that leads to San Pellegrino in Alpe (1525 meters), the highest inhabited village in the Apennines, which, however, we do not reach.

We transit to the Bassa del Saltello, continue until we reach below the Cimetta where we leave the dirt road and climb the Crinale. We follow Cai 00. we pass under the summit of Monte Albano. we transit again from Passo del Saltello. we continue touching the peaks of Monte Romecchio, Cime di Romecchio and with a last effort we arrive loading our bikes on our shoulders On the Cima dell'Omo(1859 meters).

From the summit begins a very long and uninterrupted descent that takes us directly to the starting point. Initially we always follow the Cai 00 that we abandon before the Porticciola pass following a trail that connects us with the Cai 20 that we follow until near the Vetricia where we take the Cai 30.At an altitude of about 800 meters we arrive at a group of houses where the last stretch of descent begins that leads us to the cars (pay attention to the not very visible entrance). The descent is very varied with several technical passages, smossi and with the last section with slippery steeps me on the whole all doable in the saddle with good/optimal riding skills.

The ride lends itself well to doing it in the fall months when the foliage and blueberries make the surroundings a spectacle of color.
