Valle delle Tagliole
Starting from Sant'Anna Pelago we go up to Vaccherecce, where we take an ancient path now restored to reach the Monticello Sanctuary. Having passed the Via Crucis, we take the forest road that climbs toward the Nuda. At the beginning of the prairie, at Groppo delle Tagliole, we pull straight into the beech forest to descend on fun single track. An exposed and narrow passage can be avoided by turning on it with the hand bike.
Crossing the asphalt road, we go up to the right to return to trail and descend near Pian dei Remi, continuing to Lago Santo on asphalt. The section covered corresponds with the regional Alta Via dei Parchi MTB. At Lago Santo we can take a restorative break taking advantage of the shelters and go in contemplation at the Cross of Christ on the rock, a natural balcony over the entire Tagliole Valley.
We walk up the CAI trail to the Boccaia Pass and then descend and go through all the Bosco della Barba to Badarello where we cross the Rio delle Fontanacce. We are on the Montalto forest road and we walk it to go around the Borellone counterclockwise and up the Rio Valdarno. We now take the waterfall trail encountering the waterfall of the Terzino ditch, then fording the Fontanone ditch we will begin a nice single track on the left bank of the Valdarno, later encountering the waterfalls of Sassorso, the Bandita, the Rio and the Cascadora before returning to Via Borracce, our starting point. The return is scheduled for mid-afternoon
The trails we will travel are not frequented by bikers, but by hikers on foot. As always maximum respect for them. These are water-rich areas and it is advisable to bring insect repellent.
