Parco dell'Acquerino
Tour between exploration and fun. Departing from Montemurlo, we immediately climb the wide dirt tracks that lead first to the Javello farm and then to Passo delle Cavallaie grinding out the first 700m of elevation gain.
We descend briefly along the forestry road and turn left taking a steep and quite technical downhill trail (especially when wet) We then arrive at the Bisenzio River Sources where you will most likely be alone with the sound of water flowing in the various streams.
The relaxation is short-lived and we begin to climb a steep trail with about 20 tight switchbacks, very challenging but rideable (if you have a good leg). We then return to a single track and then to a forest track that takes us to the beginning of the Ho-chi-min trail, we pedal halfway up the narrow track that requires some attention.
A short stretch of asphalt divides this trail into 2 parts, which takes us to the Cascina where we find water and in warm weather sandwiches or a good primo. We walk a couple of km on the road, then on the left we find the beginning of the trail le Cannicciaie,
2.5km of very fun and varied natural trail never too steep. At the end of the Cannicciaie we find the Gut, extremely technical (I would say trialistic) with definitely challenging passages, if you are prepared or willing to get off the bike ride it, otherwise you can take the jeepable that goes down to the right. The 2 routes reconnect shortly after and lead back downstream to the start.
