Piani della Cavalla - Monte Lesima
Tough but very spectacular tour, the recommended time to do it is late May to admire the beautiful bloom of the daffodils of the Pian della Cavalla.
Photo not mine , normally they look like this
Departure from Valsigiara di Ottone in upper Trebbia Valley, asphalt road to Fontanarossa where the steep trail begins, first steep then flat then steep again, but not long. Hard however climb in the beautiful clearing, a few ups and downs and you reach the asphalt road to Casa del Romano. Hard but short climb to Mt Carmo then nice up and down ridge.
You get to the foot of Mt. Legnà, climb up pushing 15 minutes to the summit, descend, then another 5 minutes uphill walk to Mt. Cavalmurone from the beautiful 360 degree view .
View towards Mount Alfeo.
You can avoid this strenuous section by descending right up on the trail to Bogli and ascending on asphalt to Capanne di Cosola.
Path downhill to Capanne di Cosola where you can admire Mount Lesima, last peak with a deadly but paved climb.
Here is the summit of Mount Lesima characterized by the large radar visible even from far away.
Now descent on difficult stony path, then it improves and becomes grassy, then go right following a little path in the meadow, in the woods it widens and becomes stony and challenging but very beautiful until Vesimo. Asphalt to Zerba then spectacular trail on the Trebbia ridge, short asphalt and with another little path down to Boreca.
Water at Fontanarossa just as you turn to climb, to Mount Carmo, to capanne di Cosola in front of the bar and to Vesimo.
