Hike to the summit of Mount Aiona in the Ligurian Apennines without a meter of asphalt. Departure from Rifugio Casermette del Penna where on trail first and then on dirt road to Re di Coppe and Passo della Spingarda. Now steep trail to reach the summit of Mount Aiona from which there is a 360-degree spatial view.
Descent until intercepting theAlta Via, you pass the Gonella Pass with a few pushing sections. Descent to the Giacopiane Lakes on trail. Ascent on comfortable dirt road and then a stretch of about 160 m D+ with bike on shoulder to return to the Alta Via.
This time descend, still on beautiful trails, towards Passo del Cirighetto. Here pay close attention; the trail is not difficult but is quite exposed. The return is on comfortable dirt road. Also keep in mind the variability of the weather in this area.
