San Vigilio e sentiero 29

Very challenging but also very enjoyable and scenic route.

From Merano you go up to the Vinschgau Valley on the beautiful bike path and then climb to the Naturno alpine pasture on the road from the village of Plaus, instead of the classic road from Naturno. The result does not change much, since in both cases the climb is very long!

At the hut in Naturno refreshment and excellent views and then it's on to St. Viglio on a nice up and down path. From the little church of San Vigilio you get to Lake Nero (with refreshment) and then go down to Merano on trail 29, recently refurbished with banks and jumps. The second part of trail 29 is off-limits to bikes, but you can pass safely because it is very little frequented by hikers.
