Corona dei Pinci

Beautiful route above Ascona. I recommend parking along the Maggia River and then heading toward Losone and Monte Verità, from where the paved and rather steep climb begins, taking us high above Lake Maggiore, with beautiful views.

When the road descends for a moment turn left onto the path where the descent begins. Enjoy the views and then continue on the spectacular traverse before beginning the descent proper. Unfortunately in April 2025 the first part of the descent was turned into a road, but then you leave it soon enough to find the trail again.

This one is very varied,, with flow sections, and lots of technical passages and tight, rocky switchbacks with some passages you will find yourself pushing through. The lower part, near Monte Verità, is faster, while remaining very rocky.

Since it is completely north-facing, watch for snow until late spring.
