Passo di Romaggi
Itinerary in the first Tigullan hinterland considering the final part of the 7 steps. The departure is from Carasco, precisely from San Pietro di Sturla, finding a parking place for the car is not a problem.
You go up on asphalt following the signs for San Martino del Vento. Before arriving in the village, follow the left for Vignale/San Colombano. After a hundred meters you take a right on asphalt that then turns into a dirt road that climbs quietly. The dirt road comes out on asphalt, you take a right and the last few ramps are challenging. This brings you to the Romaggi pass. From the sign, take the path to the right and staying on the ridge you will come to a clearing with picnic tables, where you take a left for the Chestnut Trail. You have to pay attention that after some hairpin bends downhill you have to take a right always on the trail, there is a chain but it is possible to climb over it. Following the trail you arrive on the road followed uphill, retrace it to the Romaggi pass and then again the trail on the ridge, but this time you do not take the chestnut trail but climb up Mount Pissacqua to do the Ginepraio, which then reconnects with the trail you faced earlier, coming out again on the climb for the third time. We resume the climb again for the third time but after a few hundred meters we descend to the left on a not very visible path. As soon as we come out on asphalt we take a left and immediately after the road turns into another we take the last path of the day on the right that takes us back to the state highway in Fontanabuona. At this point we can either head back toward Carasco following the state highway or follow the trail and re-enter following the slate bike path so as to avoid traffic.
There is a drinking fountain in the uphill section over which we pass three times, very convenient for refueling.
