Crinali Valtidone

This is a great ride on beautiful scenic ridges, physically demanding but not particularly difficult.

Start in Pianello, about ten km of asphalt slightly uphill to Casa del Diavolo with nice views of Rocca d'Olgisio. Now begins the dirt road to the ridge of Mount Ciarello, then pass under Mount Lazzaro with beautiful views of the Valtrebbia and the high mountains of the Piacentino Apennines. You travel along Costa Rasa and descend to Schiavi on beautiful trail.

You climb back up and at the first house you meet there is the first fountain. With a steep climb you pass by the rocky Il Groppo, invitation to walk up, 5 minutes, very scenic, there is the Cai trail.

You pass the large forest and descend to the asphalt, short climb then with a nice trail to Casamatti where the very long Tidone Po trail begins. Challenging trail with continuous ups and downs and ruined sections after Mt. Lazzarello. Continue to San Silverio where, with a scenic road, you reach Trebecco then climb Mt. Bissolo.

I chose the indicated descent "La Blu," which is smooth and very beautiful; you arrive at the Molato Lake dam wall. Now continue on the beautiful Tidone Po trail to Pianallo on a slight descent, very pleasant.

Water at the fountain at the first house after Schiavi, at the Hannibal fountain before Pozzallo, and at the little fountain in front of the little chapel at Praticchia, all of which you pass.
