Creste Monte Ario
With today's route, we are in Val Trompia and we are going to climb the summit of Mount Ario, then go along some beautiful ridges with exaggerated views!
To start some technical data: distance: 30km - time on the move: 3.20 hours - total elevation gain: 1590m - maximum elevation: 1740m - cycleability: 90% - suitable for MTB XC/AM/ENDURO.
Having parked the car in Bovegno (BS), we ride along a stretch of bike path to warm up the leg, until we reach the first climb of the day, mainly paved with regular gradients around 10%.
After about an hour of pedaling we reach Passo delle Piazze at 1220 meters, where numerous trails take off; we head on a cemented/ dirt road that is no longer regular, but with many rips.
After about 250 meters of elevation gain, we reach an immense meadow where you will be able to notice the arrival point: the cross!
After a short descent, still on a dirt road, the climb to the cross begins; the first piece, almost all doable, on a path, while the last 120 meters of elevation gain and about 25 minutes you will have to load your bike on your shoulders and climb the mountain; the slope is steep, but the view will repay every single effort!
Once you reach the cross you start to descend; in the first section, all on the ridge, you will have to get off your bike every now and then, as you lose altitude the trail improves becoming very flowing.
This first trail will take us back to the Piazze pass, grit your teeth; the last effort of the day is missing.
We ride about 200 meters of elevation gain until we cross the second trail of the day, the Ludizzo Trail, a spectacle of trail, flow, freeride, undergrowth in places, completely doable.
After finishing the trail, with adrenaline still in our bodies, we reach the car via a side road.
