Gran Glaiza
One of the most beautiful rides in the area and beyond, probably one of the most beautiful descents in the entire Alpine range! The price to pay is a decidedly un-bikeable climb. The first 550 meters of elevation gain are done on comfortable dirt road. The remaining 1400 on trail of which: up to the lake you alternate pushing sections with long pedaled sections provided you have a good leg to push watts on the pedals. From the lake onward the trail becomes inciclable alternating push sections with backpacking bike sections.
All this effort is rewarded by a killer descent that as a whole is never too difficult with crazy flow. Occasionally a few hairpins have to be pulled out of the bunch and care must be taken for a short exposed section but nothing that will ruin the experience even for the less experienced. Obviously it remains an alpine ride where you ride high altitude mountain trails so not suitable for neophytes but for people who already have experience in this kind of thing.
