28/19, Castagnaccio, Tarzan, Reggimonti e Gaggi

Departure from the parking lot of the hamlet of Castagnola, conveniently accessible by car from the Deiva Marina junction. Ascend on asphalt with moderate gradients towards Bracco, at the end of the climb turn right towards the Guaitarola pass, shortly after the pass turn left on trail. After a transfer on flat single track trail 28/19 begins, follow it to the quarry where you turn right onto dirt. At the asphalt road you re-enter the Guaitarola road by turning right. You arrive at the junction of 28/19 but turn left, where there are some little pistes called Castagnaccio, after venting you take the Tarzan trail, which starts exactly at the end of the shorter Castagnaccio trail. The trail is in the woods and with the fog the atmosphere is spooky.

At the end of Tarzan you take a right onto dirt road, but after a km or so you turn left onto Reggimonti. Care should be taken at the end of the trail, as soon as you get on concrete you have to turn right, it comes fast from the descent and is not very visible. Now begins a section of portage to the Gaggi trail, one must be careful to take the correct path going up on the right, the road on the left leads nowhere. When you reach the clearing at the top take the Gaggi trail on the left, follow it to the asphalt where you turn right and return to Castagnola.

As of January 2025 all the trails on this route are in perfect condition, they have just been maintained. The only drinking fountain on the trail is just before Guaitarola Pass.
