Monte Cagno

Cagno Mountain cycle-mountaineering route traveled on January 2, 2025. We start from the Campo Felice plain crossing it by freeriding until we intercept the trail that climbs to Colle di Forcamiccia. Here the trail intercepts CAI R10 and continues slightly uphill to reach through a high altitude freeride to Mt. Cagno. The trail is pleasant but the soft snow and ice oblige us to push numerous sections. When we reach the ridge of Cagno the very strong wind and frost prevent us from reaching Mount Ocre so we divert to freeride losing altitude and then regain it until we reach the ridges of Cefalone. Even these trails would be easy if there were no snow and wind. Admiring the view over the Campo Felice plain we descend a disused CAI, on a slippery and quite technical surface until we reach the road.
