Traversata Deiva Levanto
CicloEscursion that allows you to ride the best trails, in our opinion, facing the sea in the upper part of the 5 Terre National Park precisely between Deiva Marina and Levanto. The start is from a convenient free parking lot, one of the few, at the Deiva Sports Center. A first short detour is mandatory to buy the succulent Ligurian focaccia, at the Focacceria d'Oro.
Well, now a long asphalt climb awaits us, never ecessive, until we reach the Foce di Vaggi. Where we will follow the markings of the Alta Via delle 5 Terre (AV5T) towards Colletto. The comfortable little road proceeds first in a false flat then a hard ramp then again up and down until we arrive near a bench where the first as well as long downhill trail of the day will begin: we are on 28-19 Freeride! Nice groomed trail that alternates between very fast sections and nice rocky sections, watch out for drops, some nice high ones, that you notice at the last. Arriving at a sort of dog farm, we have to briefly push our way up Monte delle Streghe where we later ride the nice stony trail with several scenic switchbacks overlooking Levanto Bay! Spectacular!!!
In Levanto we have to climb back up on asphalt to Colla di Gritta. Entering a restaurant-side parking lot, we have to push briefly up steps and begin the second trail of the day: Punta Mesco. This is not a real downhill, but rather a long and spectacularly strenuous hiking trail overlooking the sea amidst the Ligurian maquis! The pushing sections will be there as well as a short steep section on the bike; but there will be no shortage of downhill thrills. Attention pedestrians, this is not a pistino. Along the trail you will pass Mount Molinelli, Mount Rossini. Arrived at the saddle of Bagari begins the long traverse overlooking the sea that with mix of technical flow fatigue and panorama brings us back to Levanto. NB: trail not for everyone! Exposed and with almost trialistic sections on fixed and mobile Rock.
Now to return to Deiva we follow the "boring" Maremonti cycleway. Almost all in tunnels in a short time we arrive at the infamous climb to Framura. Now still on asphalt we continue to climb until we cross a dirt road, via della Costa, which with a few ups and downs takes us to Località Case Serro. Now we enjoy our focaccia and with the last of our energy we are ready to tackle the iconic Ciaparoc descent. Forested trail for the most part, which follows a very technical, high level descent and thrilling final rocky tongue. The must of the area! Brasati we only have to cheer our fatigues with an excellent beer at the Arci club 93.
IT IS RECOMMENDED TO AVOID DOING THIS RIDE IN THE HOT SEASON:
1- X THE HEAT
2- PUNTA MESCO VERY POPULAR WITH PEDESTRIANS
