Ranzola Pass with descent to Onderwoald
Classic outing in the area, doable in half a day with a rather hard and not very nice climb up to Weissmatten but with a more technical alternative descent that is very rewarding.
Start near Castel Savoia and climb up to Weissmatten, from the arrival of the cable car fortunately the environment changes completely and you quickly forget the first part of the climb and continue on path, sometimes with some pedal strokes, but mostly in portage until you reach the scenic ridge where the descent begins.
Pay attention to the first few meters of the descent that have the abyss on the side, some passages are better done on foot even if doable in the saddle, then beautiful technical path and to be pedaled all the way to the Ranzola Pass
At the col east side descends on the right the 3 that is the classic descent that offers a nice final toboggan, we instead descend by the path that descends diagonally and goes to make a long traverse cin a few short climbs to push , then when it arrives in the woods begins a beautiful descent with hairpin bends and a few more uphill climbs until fording the Stallerbach stream, past the junction forla Bocca di Eclou after a very short climb, we descend to the right (sent.4).
The descent is really nice, all hairpin bends on excellent bottom sprinkled with fixed and gripping rocks that require good technique and controlled speed, there is very little flow, the more you descend the more technical it becomes in perfect Walser style !!!
