Baita Gatole e monte Censo

Mount Censo is a modest peak that stands out below Anfo, looking at it from the lake it seems impossible to get down from there but although challenging the path is practically all cyclable. Leaving the car near the small traffic circle at the beginning of the village we follow the signs for Passo del Baremone and Passo Maniva. The climb is never too steep, but today summer has literally exploded and the heat is immediately felt.

Arriving at the fork for Monte Censo being early we decide to add a small loop that reaching the Gatole hut gives us the opportunity to add an extra descent.

At the fork for the hut we take Cai 433 that transits just below Cima Valcaelli, the trail is nice and rideable until the viewpoint marked by a summit cross. Having taken a few photos we resume the descent that from here on becomes really challenging, indeed in some sections we are forced to get off the bike on slopes too steep made moreover slippery by the slippery ground and the dry. Back on the road we continue a few tens of meters to continue always on Cai 433 towards Monte Censo. A short push is needed to reach the summit, and upon reaching the large cross a beautiful view opens up over much of Lago'Idro.

Even from up here one would think that descending will be a feat, but as soon as we take the path we are exhilarated as never before dancing through the narrow hairpin bends that will accompany us to the end.
