Piancavallo Clap del Pissol acquedotto

Cyclo-mountaineering route with ascent on asphalt and dirt road to beyond Piancavallo, in the woods to Forcella di Giais, then on a long up-and-down path for half cycle path, narrow and partially exposed, very scenic, to Casera Giais, followed by medium-difficulty downhill path to near Casera Britol, push up to Clap del Pissol and descent on challenging, very exposed path to Giais.

Start from the Aviano stadium and go up on asphalt, the secondary for Costa, to Bornass, then on the main to the antennas of Piancavallo, continue on asphalt until near Piancavallo, take the dirt road near the first houses to the right and continue up and down in the woods until the crossroads where you go up on a trail that is steep in places to the Forcella di Giais, leave the entrance to the Costa Lunga trail and continue to the viewpoint. A few meters before you climb along CAI988, which continues up and down on grass on the coast, very scenic with narrow and sometimes exposed track. Not much pedaling because of the bottom, but the views are rewarding. A short descent and you reach Casera Giais, from which a very enjoyable downhill trail starts, of medium difficulty, with a gravelly and rocky bottom, equally scenic, that leads up to near Casera Britol, before which you climb to the left at the sign indicating "Clap del Pissol," a trail to be done entirely by pushing through woods and meadows, sloping but short until the Giais aqueduct outlet, where you can fill your water bottles. Descend on winding and very exposed gravel and rocky path in the first part, then smoother and protected by the forest to the Giais countryside. Closing of the loop on asphalt along the bike route on secondary roads.
