Val Veny
Since we had already explored much of the Thuile area, for the third day we opted to move to Courmayeur for a fantastic route with the backdrop of Mont Blanc. To shorten the tour a little, we decided to purchase a cable car ascent, since the route would require quite a bit of effort to stay in the saddle and not push the bike.
Leaving the car at the parking lot of the Courmayeur cable car we took the funicular up about 600 meters in altitude, arriving at the stop we headed for the Maison Vieille refuge on a dirt road with no small incline. Now the real toil begins up to the summit for about 5.5 km and 500 meters of elevation gain. We regretted not having the electric bike, a fairly wide trail with borderline pedalable tears on dirt mixed with sand,
Despite the fatigue we really enjoyed it, only a few times we had to get off the bike and the spectacle of Mont Blanc fully repays the effort. Reaching the top a fantastic perfect nature trail begins, a very fun and non-trivial trail that will lead us to a road a few meters from a refuge. We continue in sections on dirt road flanked by a small stream, in sections on path alternating with pine forest, until we arrive, as the last piece, on the paved road that will lead us to the car.
Time on the move: 2.30 hours - elevation gain pedaled: 800m - total elevation gain: 1350m - maximum elevation: 2375m - cyclability: 95% - suitable for MTB AM/ENDURO.
