Malgalunga da Valpiana
Malga Lunga, Museum-Refuge of the Bergamo Resistance, is located almost at the top of the mountain of Sovere, at an altitude of 1235 meters. The building, a neighboring stable since the Middle Ages, takes its name from its very long portico. It has housed since its donation by Gianni Radici to the Municipality of Sovere in 1979, strongly desired by the partisans, the Museum of the 53rd Garibaldi Brigade 13 Martyrs of Lovere, which, following restoration and renovation, became the Museum of the Bergamo Resistance.
On October 6, 2005, a gratuitous lease was stipulated between the Municipality of Sovere and the ANPI Provincial Association of Bergamo for the management of the Malga Lunga and with the aim of carrying out all the necessary interventions to create a multimedia structure and a didactic classroom capable of keeping alive and current the ideas and actions of so many men and women who, also in our province, fought for the freedom of our country from Nazi-Fascism, contributing to the birth of the Italian Republic and the drafting of the Constitution.
A museum that wants to address and speak to all visitors, with special attention to the world of schools, because "a museum is a permanent, nonprofit institution at the service of society and its development. It is open to the public and carries out research concerning the tangible and intangible evidence of humanity and its environment; it acquires, preserves, communicates and, above all, exhibits them for the purposes of study, education and enjoyment."
