Monte Morion - periplo

Starting point is Lignan (1633 m, hamlet of Nus). Going uphill, you proceed quickly on asphalt through pretty hamlets: at km1 Saquignod (1693 mt), at km 2 Venoz-Cret (1788 mt), and finally at km 3.8 Porliod (1893 mt). Here there is a picnic area and a large parking lot, follow the dirt road to the left to the Cuney Refuge. After 300 meters there is a sign for two trails, 11 c (the uphill dirt road) and 11 b (the downhill trail). At km 4.5 there is Praz de l?Arp and then at km 4.86 a fork, left Alpe Tsa di Fontaney (which you cross downhill), straight on for Alpe Chavalary and Refuge Cuney. At km 6.2 there is Alpe Chavalary (2150 m); continue straight on for a steady but never prohibitive climb and, at km 10, a short stretch of falsopiano. Finally the last climb to km 11.2. From here a wooden sign indicates, on trail 11c, the direction to Col Chalaby and into Cuney Sanctuary, near the Refuge of the same name.

?After 400 meters there is a crossroads and three directions: on the right you go to the Sanctuary, straight on you go to the pass, on the path mentioned on the left you go to Col du Salvè marked by a 'tall wooden cross (km 12.1 mt 2571). On the left is Mount Morion. The descent on path starts with frequent boulders and narrow hairpin bends, then the bottom improves and after two km you arrive at Alpe Tsa Fontaney (km 14,2 mt 2305). Proceed along path 11 b in the meadow with trail markers, then nice single track in the woods to Porliod (km 16.5). Return to Lignan by asphalt road. Alternatively, taking care at the entrance below A. Tsa Fontaney, it is possible to get to Lignan by trail through Fontaney, Mayes and Veplace.
