S.Onofrio dal Monticello
Short and easy loop tour, but requires good form for the ascent (or an ebike), and long fun and never difficult single trail downhill. Start from the parking lot at the foot of Monticello di Concesio. You quickly reach the summit of Monticello on wide, easy forestry. After a few dozen meters downhill you take a single track (always keep to the right) until you reach the cemented road that climbs from Bovezzo towards cascina Pasotti and Pentera locality. Here you need leg, the cemented road is a very steep leg-breaker, so much so that I marked the trail as difficult for this very section. When you reach the Pentera locality, take the forest road to the left: very steep in places but it allows stretches to rest.
Passing the farmstead Corti, we proceed until 6.5km from the start, where for us the climb ends and we take a downhill fork to the right, still on forestry, for about 800 meters. At this point, indicated by a "Concesio-Roncaglie" sign, we take the first single track on the right that takes us back to cascina Corti. Here you re-enter a somewhat wider path turning left, up to "the big oak tree" (impossible to miss it, worthy of being admired x a few minutes). Here you leave the trail and take one to the right of the oak (always marked Concesio Roncaglie), easily following the blue markings on the trees. At the first unmarked fork, go left and then first right, then follow the single track until you find yourself at the top of Monticello and immediately find the parking lot again.
12km, 5 of which are fun and technically not difficult single track. Great in dry terrain, treacherous in wet. Definitely a must-do classic for those who hang out in the area. For views you would have to climb another 50 meters to the little church of St. Onofrio, but the marked route is all in the woods.
