Monte Paina

The start of this tour is the square in front of the velodrome in Montichiari, but no one forbids starting from the parking lot of the Airone park in Bedizzole. The approach is very simple and undemanding, even pleasant because you do it following the famous Gavardina.

Once in Gavardo you cross the center of town and head towards the road that leads to the Magno, just before the traffic circle you turn left where a road sign indicates closed road, do not worry transit is allowed, the only stumbling block is a bar that is closed when the hunting lodge that is at the top is not in use. From this moment get ready, the climb is not very long, but it is tough enough, I will say no more not to spoil, you have to find out for yourself, the only thing I can tell you is: take it easy.

Once you get to the Paina Refuge there are two or three last snatches and you reach the cross. From here you can choose your descent path, we chose the rock and roll descent, not to be done with wet ground, technical descent and sufficiently challenging. Special attention should be paid on some exposed sections, because there is no margin for error.
