Description

Today I present a really Top ride on the Agrentario Promontory that is very suitable for the winter period, unless you are spending your vacation right here. Of course you will need to avoid the hottest hours, but the fun is guaranteed.

Departure from the Convent of the Passionist Fathers to head towards Poggio del Cane where we will immediately face the most challenging and spectacular trail of the day, namely the Crepaccio. The trail immediately looks pretty good and as you go along it becomes more and more challenging on a very loose rocky surface with super views of the sea, but be careful not to get distracted in particular on a couple of passages one of which is the reason for the name given to the trail. Arriving at the end we head on the road to Porto Santo Stefano, we made a cut going through a trail theoretically closed due to landslide, so my advice is to follow the road even if it involves losing some elevation gain that then has to be made up.

At the fork for Forte Stella we turn right but instead of heading toward the fort we go in the opposite direction to take a single track that ends at Podere la Storta we pass it and recover the Annunziata road. Coming out at the fork for the convent we turn right to take a single track that we will follow until below Poggio Tondo on Via Provinciale del Convento. Rounding the knoll we combine two descents in sequence, Raskio and Madonnina very fast fun where however there is no shortage of technical passages.

When we arrive on the dirt road we go back up to Poggio Diaccio to continue until we find again the road of the Provinciale del Convento, we walk about a hundred meters and throw ourselves on the short but pissed off Crocicchio trail all practically on a rocky surface. Not even time to take a breather and soon after we finish the ride on the Vipera, which as you can guess from the name is a snake-like jointed trail.

Alas to end the day we have to do it uphill to get back to the convent where we parked.
