CAVATAPPI SHORT

Do you want to see the infamous "CAVATAPPI of Central Italy" up close? Take a seat "but leave all hope or you who ride."

The loop itself is very short but tough both uphill and downhill. It starts out cold with the climb of Settecerri, about 600 meters of elevation gain in 5 km, if you are not a trained pedalist take it very but very slowly otherwise you are gambling the rest of the outing. The road is all asphalt all the way to the hamlet. Here rest drink and start the descent, the route is all single track very enduristic, so rockgarden, steps, passages on sandstone slabs, drop assasins. After a couple of kilometers you will arrive at the now half-flooded hamlet of Colle Grato overlooking Lake Talvacchia. Here too you can stop for a drink and a rest; you will enter the hamlet by doing a 30-step stone climb, tough but very impressive passages (the photos refer to this place).

From here you continue to descend, the path here becomes really hard, at one point you will find yourself on a concrete bridge 20 m high that joins two rock spurs, the ride is worth all its effort just to be able to admire the view from this point. Continuing on you come to the "CAVATAPPI" the name is due to its similar course to the section of the famous Laguna Seca track. That is, Czech-style drop-off with a sudden descent in zero gravity and dry switchbacks at the end (be careful as you face it at the end you curve left and not right). The point is a passage that requires advanced riding skills, to make you understand you can hurt yourself a lot even going down it on foot. From here you still proceed on very rocky single track, watch out last half kilometer of hairpin bends on peat and pebbles, very slippery and treacherous section especially for accumulated fatigue.
