Col Alt - Sentiero Gallo Matto e Madonna degli Scalini

Route with ascent on asphalt and descent on DH and Enduro trails of varying difficulty.

Start from Caneva and climb on asphalt above Villa di Villa to the ruins of Cordignano Castle, from which you take the Strada dei Patriarchi that you follow in closed sections between trees and a few clearings leading to the Cansiglio forest. At the crossroads signposted for the Monolite degli Alpini, turn left on a dirt road to the Col Alt viewpoint, from which the view extends to the sea. Returning from the same road, past Casera Col Alt you regain the asphalt and continue to climb, passing for now the entrance with lots of wooden signage for the Gallo Matto DH to the following junction, left on dirt road and then to the first path on the left that in a rather simple and fun up and down in the woods leads back to the entrance of the DH trail.

You descend on dirt and rocks in the narrow valley, fast and with a few man-made jumps. You continue straight on to the junction with a more bumpy, rocky section with a medium gradient. Shortly before coming out on the asphalt road, follow a left toward the Madonna degli Scalini Trail sign. The terrain continues to be uneven, with fixed and other moving rocks, with slower technical sections and others at very high speed, until you reach a junction where you take the path to the left to descend on a traverse and some technical points, including the final practically vertical one, to the highest houses of Stevenà, which you bypass over meadows and paved roads to close the loop.
