Pizzoc e Cansiglio

Starting point the small square of Pieve di Bigonzo, convenient free parking. The tour starts "badly," considering that after just 500 meters from the start we already encounter the challenging cemented ramps of Via Sfadigà, > 20%. We proceed in the direction of the Caglieron Caves, then to the village of Sonego where there is a useful fountain at the crossroads. After a section in the middle of the hamlet, take Via degli Alpini, where the challenging climb up to altitude begins: 5km x 700 meters (NB: the most challenging parts are at the beginning and at the end, after the capitol of St. Anthony).

The end of the main climb corresponds to the view of the capitol of S.Floriano, altitude 1200 meters or so: free to thank him or insult him, depending on your condition at the end of the climb. Forward to Cadolten locality, then turn right in the direction of malga Coro and deviate to follow the Antico Troi dei Cimbri, across the meadows of Pian dell'Erba (GPM at 1300 meters). A short downhill section with a dry right turn to reach a nice, sometimes technical path that leads to La Crosetta (1130 meters, fountain on the right). Forward now following the asphalt road and at the junction for Monte Pizzoc deviate left uphill, aiming precisely at Monte Pizzoc at an altitude of 1560 meters (very wide views of the plain below and of the hills during the ascent).

From the viewpoint descend to the hut, then proceed northwest to the Volunteers monument and finally descend to the right to take trail F3: beware of the steepness of the trail in the initial section, especially if wet bottom! The trail runs in the bed of a dry creek, rough but still rideable, until we reach the Taffarel forestry road, which we ride for just over 1km. Inside a dry bend, the descent on the F1 trail begins: the first part is not very cyclable, requiring a few minutes on foot interspersed with short pedaling, due to the presence of large boulders and little room to maneuver; but as soon as the trail veers to the left on firm ground, the initial "hassle" is well repaid by the quality of the trail! On the other hand, for those who are allergic to carrying their bikes by hand even for a short time, instead of descending on the F1, they can continue on the Taffarel for another 2 km and descend on the S trail, which is also very nice!

Once in Vallorch, continue on the F trail, also worthy if more hiker-frequented than the previous trail(s). Emerging in Piana, a couple of detours lead to the descent to Valmenera and the subsequent ascent to rejoin the Cansiglio Ring forest road. The forest road is now a long "stretched" climb, not challenging, pleasant and in the cool of the forest; maximum elevation 1270 meters.

The forest road ends near La Crosetta locality (we have already passed there); it is time to descend, taking advantage of the dirt detour to malga Quierta (B&B), then the very fast paved descent of the Strada del Cansiglio. Before reaching Fregona, we turn right (via degli Alpini) to retrace what we did on the way up to the Caglieron caves, where we opt for a quick return along via Breda-Colors (NB: a nice detour is possible at an altitude of 280 meters, leading to the technical paths of Costa di Fregona/Madonna del Carmine, the subject of future itineraries).
