Varied and super scenic cyclo-mountaineering itinerary.
Well yes it is still possible to tour in exploited areas but away from ecomonsters. After last year's exploration Gran Sommetta ravaged by fog it is time to optimize a nice km0 Tour.
Start from the Capital but of course you can leave at will to shorten/lengthen.
La Magdeleine - Chamois - 34 - Valtournenche. Already worth the ticket.
Done dozens and dozens of times but always beautiful and very technically challenging. Ascent from Crepin and tunnels to Perreres with panorama merenderos at the bottom. 200 m of asphalt on regional pass rapids and we divert to the hairpin bend still on asphalt but steep and still hyper scenic to Alpe Promindoz. From Alpe Molar we try to circumnavigate the marshes to the end of the pedal along a sort of mini Ru. Pedal end 2350 m. Taka zü first with pushing along beautiful isolated little valley then at trail rejoin we switch to some excellent and elegant Portage until landing on plateau at 2800 m. This is where the fun comes, the grass quickly gives way to lunar terrain of fine scree and so you can ride at will across the expansive Plateau with total 360 views. You get practically all the way to below the anticima on which you climb without any difficulty. Vabbeh might as well do the actual summit as well being 10 min of discomfort. Excellent, 3018 m Motta di Pleté Orientale. Spatial and unique view. Even Cervinia from this distance looks almost beautiful.
Descent ON: back on anticima with only a few meters in the saddle but from here you can dick around to your heart's content on rocks and scree as beautiful as the sun. It's also worth visiting Central 2870 m and going for photo merenderos on Occidentale 2840 m. Careful not to end up in the village from the steep between the two.
Back to the col 2810 m zö de lè to the left. First 50-100 m on scree with sporadic steps on the bike but in no time we are on perfect trail and technical just right. Another unexpected and beautiful little valley light years away from the horrible elevators and motorized trails not far away. Very beautiful ! At Manda Damon short dirt road with little altitude loss and from Manda Desot 2100 m we return on nice ST that becomes exciting as soon as it faces the Cretes. The last few hairpin bends before the regional are the icing on the cake. The hour is late and instead of getting bored on asphalt to get home we go back again on the 34 from the outward between initial pedal and big push up.
In summary: Super recommended route that lends itself to long days of biking as well as half-day fast&furious starting from Valtournenche. Brand down!
