Percorso Granfondo dei due mari
Route of the two seas granfondo held in Sestri Levante. The trail starts from Chiavari, but the actual route starts from Sestri Levante, just before the hospital you have to take via Lazio towards the church of Santo Stefano del Ponte. If you are coming from outside consider the hospital parking lot as a good starting point.
At the end of Via Lazio you take a left and begin the climb toward San Bernardo. After going over the A12 take a left on cemented road, following the track you will find yourself on the classic climb to the Selva. Follow the asphalt uphill and you will arrive at the junction to the Selva, you must take the dirt road on the left, which after a section of false flat and a more gritty one will lead you to the clearing where the shuttles arrive. Continue on the dirt road and keep to the right, you will come to another refreshment area with some tables, take the path uphill in front of you, toward Le Rocchette and Capenardo mountain. The trail climb has some detours that avoid the more difficult sections, but doing it all in the saddle remains an achievement every time. When you reach the top of Mt. Capenardo be careful to follow toward Mt. Le Rocchette, then arrive at the crossroads, where the trail turns right onto a downhill path. If you want you can lengthen the tour by entering the loop that has recently been cleaned and fixed that starts in front of you, then returning to the same spot. Having resumed the slab trail you will come to a large clearing after the hunters' shack, take a first left downhill on dirt trail and then left again downhill on dirt trail. After a couple of kilometers downhill, you will come to a hairpin bend to the left, you go straight on dirt road on a false level. After a few hundred meters you will find a single track on the left, take it and in doing so you will arrive at the Iscioli pass. Unfortunately, the GPX recording had a problem and this piece is missing.
Once you get to Iscioli you will find yourself in a dirt square, take a right and you will be right on the pass. On your right starts the trail to the Gaggi mountain, the uphill cyclability of the trail is not total, it depends on the condition of the bottom. Once at the top you can rely on the trail again and follow it until you are on asphalt. After a few hundred meters be careful to take the right turn onto under-road path, which is not very visible. The trail ends near the landfill, once on main asphalt take a right and passing through the hamlets of Villa Azaro and Villa Loto you will return to the junction for the dirt road to the Selva, which you will take again. Once at the top there are two options for descending to Sestri, the trail follows the path of I Cani and then Sant'Anna, you can also do the Toboga and then rejoin Sant'Anna or continue on the Mimosas. Once you reach the end of the trail you can comfortably return to the starting point via asphalt.
Beware of the two parts of the trail after Iscioli that are not groomed and may be dirt and/or have fallen trees.
