Description

Classic Tigullio itinerary that after the recent arrangement of the ridge trail allows full enjoyment of the view of the entire gulf.

The start of the actual route is in Lavagna, from the bridge that crosses the Entella River and marks the border with Chiavari.

Descending along the river we take the slate bike path and follow it to San Salvatore, where we leave it to the right, skirting the bridge. At the traffic circle we take a right and then an immediate left towards Cogorno/Breccanecca. We continue uphill on asphalt until we reach the junction where we take a left following for Monte San Giacomo. The climb proceeds with several ramps interspersed with stretches in which to catch our breath. Further fork and we take another left towards Monte San Giacomo, this last mile and a half gives no respite. Arriving at the square at the summit we take a right uphill passing near the antennas, abandoning the road that has become dirt for the path on the right, which passes near the old slate quarries. At the following fork we keep to the right and come out on the ridge, if the day assists us the view sweeps from the Portofino mountain to Sestri Levante, or in special weather conditions we can ride in the snow with a view of the sea.

We continue on the ridge trail, all rideable, which after a bit of up and down reaches Le Rocchette mountain and then the crossroads. Here we continue straight on the uphill trail until we reach Mt. Capenardo, where the trail that will lead us to the Selva begins. At the top of the mountain we keep left and then keep right all the way down the fast descent to the Selva. We pay attention to the possible presence of walkers or other cyclists in the opposite direction. As soon as the forest thins out we have a chance to take the Barassi and I Cani trails; the trail continues straight on dirt, which we abandon on the right to begin the Toboga, which will take us to the junction where we can choose between Sant'Anna on the right and Mimose on the left, with the I Cani trail coming in on our right. We throw ourselves onto St. Anne's and making our way through the different possible lines we arrive at the beginning of the Roman Bridges road that starts on the left, just after the rock garden. Going straight ahead we can make the Direttissima. At the end of the Ponti path we find ourselves on the promenade in Sestri, where we can return to our starting point via Aurelia.
